September 14 Here we go again...So here we are a month later. We bought a 92 Ford Taurus, and it just crapped out on me in the last several weeks. So I threatened the car that I'd trade her in on a new car, and I guess she didn't believe me, because she left me stranded 2 days in a row. So guess what?!! I TRADED HER IN!! And now I own a car that looks like a brand new car, but it's not! She is a 1996 Buick Riviera with a supercharger. She's fast, clean, has a/c, and is all leather on the inside. She is sleek and just flat out PRETTY! Anyways, it's a great car and I'm thrilled to have her. Its sad though, it's my first car from a dealership and I'm almost 33 years old! Oh well, the "wait'" was worth it, lol.
My new job at Kohls is going great. We have 2 weeks left to get the store ready to open. I don't know how we're going to be ready, but I guess we'll have to be. I still have a ton to do yet, and have done A LOT! I look around the store and realize how much I have done, but how much still needs to be done. I'm glad we have a good store manager that knows I really can't "do it all". I have had a little help, but 2-3 people in each department would be even better, lol. As most of you know, I'm the Visual Merchandising Supervisor at the new store opening up in Norman, OK. Basically I'm in charge of all displays in the store. Display fixtures, displays, mannequins, graphics of every kind throughout the store, signs on the windows, decorations for all holidays, and any new merchandise sets that need to be done throughout the year. Its way more than that, but that's the jist of it. I get to work Monday through Friday, daytime hours, no weekends.....and the pay is nice too.
Dusty is doing OK. He likes school, but he's having a hard time with the homework thing again. So we have a lot to work on with that. And Randy is still working hard 6 days a week. He likes my new car too, but I think he likes it more than he wants to admit. He's outside hooking up my stereo system in it now. It didn't have a stereo when I got it, so we had to fix that. I need my tunes when I get off work! It's the only thing it really needed though, other than my own little touches. I got a steering wheel cover, an air freshener thingy, and a duster for the inside. We do live in the country after all.
OK, OK, enough about the car. If you want to see it here is a pic, but there is more in the album I added. Oh yea, I chopped my hair!
Hugs from us all!!
August 14 Heyyyyy ya'll!!!! Wow! So much has happened! Let's see, I don't have a lot of time, so I'll make this short and sweet. Randy's still working, he's doing ok. Dustin starts Junior High this Thursday, so it's been pretty scary for him this past week. He's nervous, but somewhat excited too.
We also have a car now, thank goodness. So I went out and looked for a job. First thing I applied for was a management position with Kohls, and I got it! I started this past Friday. It's so exciting! We're opening a brand new store in Norman, so I get to be a part of that. It'll be my second store opening. This is also a concept store, like the last store I worked in. But instead of an unsteady company, it's a fast growing company. The others in the management team are all just awesome people. I can really see this store making its mark! We're doing a job fair right now, and we should be in the store by late next week to start putting fixtures, mannequins, and graphics up. Then we start throwing freight and getting everything stocked! My position is Visual Supervisor/Specialist. Just like my old job, but sooooo much easier! And more pay!! We also had channel 5 news come in and do a story on Kohls while we were at the job fair on Saturday, so I was on the news too, lol.
Let's see....OH! I quit smoking on August 2, and I'm really doing good! Not one cig since then! Heck, I smell them and I think they stink! Randy smokes in my car and I get in afterwards and have to spray Febreze! UGH!!! So 2 weeks so far! Yayyyyy me!!
That's it for now. I have to go get ready for work! Hugs to you all!
Hope July 21 We're still here!I know, I haven't written for awhile again. Lot's of stuff going on. My brother and his wife moved to their own place and they seem to be pretty happy there. That's a great thing!
Randy finally got me a car so I could go back to work. I decided not to go back to Sears though. I sent my resume to a great company, so we'll see what happens. I had my interview this past Friday, and it looks good. I'll say a few prayers.
We went through a lot to find a car, but I think we got a decent one. It's nothing fancy, but for right now it'll work. It's a 92 Ford Taurus. I like it. Dustin and I can get out more during the week and spend time together. Something we like to do is go to the library and the museum together. And of course he likes to shop with me for cool stuff. He's totally into this dragon stuff, so he likes to go to different stores with me to see if they have anything he can get for his room.
Buddy is doing a lot better too. He was a major pain in the butt when we got him, but he seems to have calmed down a bit. We're leaving him alone longer and longer here at home, that way when I go back to work, he'll be OK by himself. He just adores us and we adore him. He is definitely a one-of-a-kind dog though.
Dustin will be starting Junior High this next month. He is soooo nervous. But I think after homeschooling this past year, he'll be OK. He has definitely matured a lot too.
Anyways, that's about it for now. If I think of anything, I'll add it later on. I need to go finish getting stuff ready to go to Jen's for supper. We're watching that new movie tonight, "Premonition", I hope it's good.
TTYL!!!! June 23 Dustin is 12 now!! Wow, where did the time go? It doesn't seem like 12 years has gone by. Dustin has gone from little chubby, dimple cheeked, cherub to a very pre-teen boy. It makes me sad in some ways. Hoping I didn't miss something somewhere along the line.
Anyways....(sniff sniff sniff..) He has his party today. How many kids do you know that get to set fireworks off on his birthday? I know I never got to. He had a neat cake, with a '57 Chevy on it. I made him a honey ham dinner, which he loved. He got a cool knights shield from his grandparents, Randy's folks. And from his other Grandparents (my folks) he got a cool art set with a dragon theme, and my Mom made him a dragon statue out of clay. Its very cool! He spent all his cash on a couple water guns....super soakers. (He and Britt have been wet almost every day now since he bought them, lol!!!) And with a gift card he got a bunch of fireworks, lol. He also now has 2 new fishing poles, and his Dad is going to finish fixing his go cart/buggy. I'll be uploading the photos in a day or so. I need to alter a couple and re-size them. My memory card went out, so I could only take a few. My brother, Mike, took a few too.
We're planning to have a HUGE 4th of July party/BBQ/Pool party. Between us, Jen & Robert, my brother and Jen's Dad, plus whoever else comes.....we'll probably have enough fireworks to set off & last all night long, lol.
Well, that's about it for now. I'll add what I can later on. I'm beat and ready for bed. Here is a photo for now. I'll add the rest later on. HUGS!!!!! June 04 Oops! Sorry!!OK, I know, I know.....where have we been?!!! Well, we have had a lot going on the past several weeks. First off, homeschool for the most part is done for the summer! YAYYYY!!! So now we have to find things for Dustin to do.
Then I took on babysitting for a neighbor to earn a little extra money for Dustin's birthday. I am watching 2 boys on Mondays and Tuesdays. They are a big handful, but it's OK. It just means no sleeping in on those days now. And the days go by fast, although at times not fast enough!
Also my brother and his wife are now staying with us for a bit. They moved here from Houston and left a lot of really bad things behind. It's not easy to live with family, but at least I know they are better off here. They seem to really like it here. Although my brother is having a hard time finding a job. And of course they have the same problem we do: one car. They brought their dog with them too. A Pug named Pugzlee. He doesn't care too much for Buddy, so we made them keep him in their room or outside. This is Buddy's house, so we refuse to lock Buddy up.
Randy, Dusty and I are doing OK. I have lost a bit of weight since Mike and Deb moved in, but I'm trying to put it back on. I can't spare a whole lot of weight. And of course my Fibro has been acting up too. More aches than usual. I'm also planning to go in for my surgery in a few months.
Randy's doing good too. He mowed the entire 3 acres yesterday with Mike doing our backyard. So he was pretty wiped out last night. He working still and the truck is finally starting to drive better.
Dustin has really matured in the past few months. But he has also started acting like a teen. Scary!!! If some of y'all saw him right now, you'd be in shock! He has facial hair growing in!!! Arghhhhh!! I AM NOT READY for this!! I want my little boy back!!!!!
Well, I can't leave these boys along too long, so I'll close for now. Feel free to email us anytime! I'll be adding photos in the next week or so. I really hope I am keeping this site alive for a reason. I haven't had but one person even tell me they have seen it. Just remember that my email addy is still the same except for the @ part. It's now @gmail , so if you email me, its the same beginning as the msn one.
Alright, keep in touch!! Ciao!!! May 06 Another Update Here we are again....finally. Not a whole lot to write about before, so I just added photos. A tiny bit of news now though.
Jen and I took Dustin and Brittanie to the Rose Rock Festival here in Noble. Noble is a tiny town between here and Norman. Population 5000. The rose Rock is a rock that was formed over many many years. Its formed from the red sand/clay here and it forms in the shape of a rose. We actually have some on the property! The kids like to go dig them up when they have nothing else to do. (photo of a rose rock below) www.roserockmuseum.com
Anyways, we took the kids to the parade at 10am, then to the carnival and then on to the car show. The car show was almost dead when we got there. We were out almost all day, but it was fun. It was overcast, but a bit cool too. I took my camera and got a ton of pictures, some of which are in the album. Dusty was able to ride rides that Britt couldn't, because of his size. Most of the kids he was in school with couldn't go on because of their size. He said some of the kids thought he was cool because he got to go on them, even though they were a bit jealous. I thought it was funny. I guess he'll let it go to his head for a bit. As long as he doesn't get too big headed about it, it's OK. It made him feel good.
Randy and Robert both had to work, but we hope they get to go with us next year. Sorry, no pics of me yet. I'm trying, but there's never a good time to get anyone to get pics of me, oh well. Maybe sometime this week I can get Jen to take a couple. (From a far distance!)
It's so amazing....we moved here and have done so much more in 10 months than we did in the entire 4 years Jen and Robert were here and we were in Phoenix. Carnivals, parades, festivals, fairs, zoos, and a circus.....just amazing! The kids are getting to go to the Little River Zoo on Tuesday of this week. So long as it doesn't rain. And then the Cowboy Museum next weekend for a Chuck Wagon gathering and festival. The on the 18th, were going to see the Jet Cars race at the drag strip down the road. Have I mentioned that we LOVE it here???!!!
Dustin has put on some more weight and grown another inch. So now he is 5' 5" and weighs 146lbs. He wears a men's 34 x 32 in pants and is almost in a size 10 in men's shoes!!!! :-O And he's not even 12 yet!!!!!
OK, that's about it for now. I need to go to bed. Hope to hear from yall soon!! And remember: Our new email has changed, so if you need the new email addy, let me know! Just give me a ring!
Hugs to you all from the 4 of us!
(photos have been added to our albums and a new album has been added) April 19 .....And we're backOk, looks like we're back online. Not a lot has happened since we lost the net. Same old stuff, different day. I'm selling my patterns on Ebay, along with whatever else I feel like selling.
I have added more photos and an album. Medieval fair photos, a couple new ones of Buddy, Easter, and I plan to get more on there of me at some point. I know, I know...but I'M the only one that TAKES the pictures, lol.
Maybe I'll have more to tell you soon.
Laters! April 02 Please stand-by for technical difficulties.... Just a quick note from us to y'all......our modem went out, so until we get a new one, I'm stuck using Jen's PC. So it'll be a once a day thing. No picture updates either. *sigh* But just think of all of the new pictures I'll be uploading for ya when I do get back online at home!! LOL!
Anyways, I have reorganized my office to make more room. It's dang near the cleanest room in the house! We are also trying to do more in Dustin's room. We took him to the Medieval Fair in Norman yesterday. We bought him a real sword for his wall and a really neat black & white sketch of a dragon that we are going to matte and frame. It's going to be huge by the time that is done, lol. He had a blast at the fair. He was like a sponge asking questions and soaking up all the info he could. He learned SOOOOO much! We considered it a field trip for his home school. He wants to go every year now! We're just glad he found something to take an interest in that he can learn from as well. (We just pray he sticks to it!)
OK, that's it for now. I hope to get back online in a week or so. Email me if you like, but remember I only check my email once a week for now.
See ya soon!!
March 26 Another Day...OK, here we are again. Not much going on. Well, OK, there kind of is, lol. Dustin's room is ALMOST done!!! Waiting on the new trim (it takes money), and still have to do the stenciling, but that's about it. Then we just have to get the lighting and a few shelves built and that'll be it. Next big thing he needs is a bed. He just has borrowed mattresses right now, so we need one real soon.
We all took Dustin and Britt to the Shriner's Circus at the OK State Fairgrounds arena this past Saturday night in Oklahoma City. Dustin had a BLAST! He said one of his favorite things was the Elephants, then the Tigers, and of course the aerial girls. It isn't near as good as the Barnum & Bailey circus, but it was fun nonetheless. And for charity of course! I'll upload the photos that I was able to get before the batteries died in the camera.
I am also starting a new business. I'll be selling custom and ready-made cross stitch patterns online and around town. I make them myself from photos and graphics. We'll see how it goes. If all goes well, maybe I can create a website for it.
Not much else to say right now. Maybe I'll have more later in the week.
Ciao! March 19 Painting progress & Randy Well, we're almost completely done with Dustin's room now. The blue paint is on the walls and you can kind of tell we aren't experts at it, lol. You can see some small areas where the paint ran. And the strips we took down and then applied tape and mud to....well, Randy forgot that we were supposed to primer those, so you can kind of see them. Maybe someday we'll go through and primer the whole room and repaint, but it'll have to wait. Other than that, it doesn't look half bad. I have to go through on two spots and run a second coat of paint next to the ceiling where Randy missed, then I can start doing the stenciled border. I'm not too sure about the stencil style though, so I may wait and see what else I can find instead. I have attached a partial scan of the stencil to this message that I have now. But we're just not sure about it. Let us know what you think! I have also added some pictures to the Dustin's room album, so you can see how it looks now. We plan to buy some trim and baseboards for the room too, paint them the same Chimney-sweep Black color we're doing the stenciling in, and then putting them up. The trim around the windows will be that same black too, AFTER we primer it of course, lol. And then the ceiling will be a real light grey. We also got some bulk whiteboard (dry erase board) to put up over his desk for doodling, notes, or homework stuff. And we also plan to put shelves up here and there for his future dragon statues and keepsake stuff. I'm hoping that by the time it's ALL done, it'll look clean, neat and more grown up. He says he wants a more grown up room, so that's what we're going for.
Now, as for Randy.....last week he had a tire blow up on him. It hit his right eye, right cheekbone and threw him back into a workbench. He was in some major pain, but he's doing better now. We thought he'd have a small back eye, but it really didn't get dark at all. He also has been working his butt off on his shed. It used to be one of those add-ons for an older trailer, to be used as a porch thing. He has added a full wall to it, put in some shelves, and built a workbench for smaller projects. He plans to get a bit more wood and put up the door. That way its all secure too. We do plan to build a larger shop later on, but this works for now. I'll go out there in a bit to take some pictures of it and post them in Randy's album.
We have so many projects going right now, it's hard to decide what to work on, lol. I have my office to work on, getting it more organized and all. Then there's Dustin's room, the front bathroom, the shed, Randy's truck, the back porch, and now we have to start planting grass too. We plan to use grass plugs though, instead of seed. It's called AMAZOY ZOYSIA. It looks awesome, and a guy down the road has it too. It just takes a lot more work than seeding.
OK, I think that's it for today. We don't know who all reads these or looks at the photos, but please leave comments or email us and let us know! I'd hate to think I'm typing all this out for nothing, lol.
Take care!
March 15 Just a quick noteI just wanted to pop on and give ya an update. Dustin's room is almost done. We have to go get a second gallon of paint. It turns out that purple-pink color is stubborn and doesn't want to hide very well. But as soon as the second coat is on, and dry, I'll do the stenciling. Once Randy picks up the new trim, I'll paint it, then put it on. We are also painting the outlet covers a glossy black. I'm hunting down a new light fixture for his ceiling (something medieval
I have asked my Mom to maybe think about painting a large dragon on his wall when she comes to visit. I really hope so. The dragon stencil that big is expensive! We were thinking a white dragon. Dustin really likes the Chinese Dragons, but I guess it all depends on what we find, or what Mom can do. Chinese dragons really don't mix well with medieval stuff though. So maybe if he wants a Chinese dragon, we'll have to switch his theme to a Chinese theme....not really sure I'd like that one, lol. <UPDATE: No chinese dragon theme. He wants all kinds of dragons, but the theme is staying medieval.
Maybe something like this picture for his wall....but just the dragon.....let me know what you think. Just leave me a comment.
OK, off to do my chores and get Dustin doing his. Have a great day!! March 13 Update on Dustin's room & other stuff OK, well, it looks like we're going to be able to start painting tomorrow!!!!!!!!
Randy stayed up late again last night sanding down the last few sections. I was going to try sanding myself, I even bought the masks so I didn't have to breathe all that dust. But he did it all himself. HMMPH! Whatever! ![]() Yesterday Dusty and Britt actually spent several hours together without arguing AT ALL! I was in SHOCK! I have added a photo of them working on their "project". It started out just nailing a few pieces of wood together, and now it strongly resembles a plane, lol. Last night when the guys got in from work, Robert and Randy both asked the kids where the engine was, lol.
It was too funny. I'm listening to a tapping sound that tells me Dusty is out there working on it again. Maybe we should see how much a set of carpenter tools would cost for him. If it's not too much, I bet he'd LOVE it. Oh, I almost forgot. Buddy found out what a mouse was yesterday. Kitten, one of Jen's cats had one that she was tormenting. They catch the things on the property, and then feel they have to drag them close to one of the houses so you can see it. And they have to play with them before they eat them, of course. Anyways, I let Buddy out yesterday, to play, like always. I didn't know she was out there, much less had a mouse. Next thing I know, Buddy had a mouth full of mouse and he almost gagged on it. I yelled at him to drop it, and he did, gladly. He ran to me and whined, then ran onto the porch. It was funny. I told him if he wanted a mouse, he had to hunt his own down. He jumped up at the back door like he wanted to go in and I took that as a no, lol. He came right into the house and ran to his water bowl to get a hefty drink. I was rolling by this point, lol!!
Anyhow...that's it for now. I'll post these few pics I have and that'll be it for today. The mouse pics are in the album OTHER PHOTOS, and the pics of Dusty and Britt building the plane is in the DUSTIN album. March 09 Dustin's Room Well, we have taken on our first project. Dustin's room. As you can see from the photos, it was a girls room. Brittanie's to be exact. So Dustin has chosen his own colors and theme. He really wants a medieval themed room, mostly dragon stuff.
We started out just planning on painting it, doing the stenciling, and that's it. Then Randy got this "big idea" to take down all the trim and those strips of wood that join the pre-fab walls together. OK, I can handle that. (pain in my ASS is what it was!) I ripped them all down, we pulled all the nails out and then realized how bad the people at Fleetwood did building this place. UGH!
Anyways, Now Randy is putting up "mud and tape". But since he works, he only does a little bit here and there. Poor Dustin is stuck sleeping in the living room until it's done. I went in there yesterday and applied some joint compound to the tape myself, and I guess he thought I didn't do such a great job, because he was up until almost midnight sanding down my mud application, and then doing almost all the rest of the areas that had to be done. (I knew that if I did something in there wrong, he'd work on it, hehehe.
Anyways, so now the mud that he applied last night is ready to be sanded, he only has one corner left to tape and apply the joint compound to. We have had the paint, brushes, rollers and everything for almost a month now. I'm ready to start getting rid of that damn purple crap, lol. Dustin is sick of not having his room yet. I don't blame him. He's been in the living room for over a week now. And so has his bed and desk! The mattresses are leaning up against a wall, and the desk is in the living room IN THE WAY. Not to mention his clothes are in totes in the living room, so they don't get all nasty. My living room is MESSY and CROWDED now.
Anyways, I'll add more photos as we go. I'll just be glad when we get his room cleaned up of all the powder from the sanding and can start painting. I'm also building some shelves to go up high in there so he can display his dragon stuff without little hands pulling everything down.
OK, that's it for now. I'll post again later on. Oh, did I mention we're re-doing his bathroom too? ARRRRGGGGHHHH!!!! Not to mention Randy wants to redo our room, our bathroom....OK, the rest of this damn house!!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() February 27 Here we are!OK, I have finally set up this site for our friends and family to be able to view whenever they want. This way I can upload photos one time, and update our family and friends on our lives and whats going on. From little thing to big things. We are going to try our best to update as much as possible. And hopefully we can do our own updates too. Like Randy writes whatever, and then Dustin do his own too.
Anyways, so far since we have been here, Randy, Dustin and I have really fallen in love with the area we are in. Out in the country, no city noise to deal with and Dustin has a lot more freedom to be a kid. Walmart may be 30 minutes away, but it's worth it.
We have a great dog too. Dustin likes having a dog. But at times I don't know who is worse behavior-wise. Either Buddy is chewing up jackets and blinds, or Dustin is talking back and not listening. But I guess kids will be kids, and dogs will be dogs.
I am homeschooling Dustin too, and he's doing good. But WOW! I really need a break sometimes. Don't get me wrong, I love our son more than anything, but 24/7 is getting hard to do. And with him about to be 12, almost a teen, it's really tough on all of us.
Well, I need to get laundry done and send the kiddo out to play for a bit. I'll write more soon!
